Thaddeus Brown often gets lost in the shuffle at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. And it’s somewhat understandable considering he plays alongside blue-chip recruits such as Dayne Crist, Anthony McDonald and Wes Horton. Trying to get any sort of publicity with those three around can’t be easy.

So, Brown has gone about his business quietly. Gaining recognition has been a slow process, an underground movement of sorts -- but one that’s gaining steam. A sure indication of his progress is that Rivals.com and Scout.com have apparently jumped on the bandwagon. And it’s about time.

We are, after all, talking about a kid whose measurables are unmistakable. Brown runs the 40-yard dash in 4.41 seconds, benches 265 pounds and squats 465. Boise St. along with Illinois St. and Utah St. have offered him scholarships. Notre Dame, UCLA and USC have recently contacted him as well.

A breakout effort for the Knights (7-1 overall) in Friday night’s Serra League game, ranked No. 5 by The Times, against Bishop Amat (2-6) would go a long ways in helping Brown gain some much-needed respect on the national level. His days of flying underneath the radar could be numbered.
