I don’t want to say The Times’ top 25 took it on the chin but ...

No. 4 Hart was tied, 21-21, by Valencia.
No. 14 Esperanza was beaten, 9-7, by No. 23 Edison.
No. 15 Compton beat Millikan, but only 34-28.
No. 18 Los Alamitos was beaten, 31-27, by Newport Harbor.
No. 21 Canyon Country Canyon beat West Ranch, but only 10-3.
No. 24 Rancho Verde was beaten, 18-14, by Moreno Valley.

Questions, questions: With two-touchdown losses to Birmingham, Orange Lutheran and Saugus, has Valencia been overlooked because of its tough schedule? Other than being undefeated, why is Hart ranked so high? Compton has the record, but does it have the credentials? Does Esperanza stay in the top 20? Does Los Al stay in the top 25? Is it time to rank Newport Harbor (6-2), Moreno Valley (7-1) and/or Culver City (8-0)?
