Rancho Alamitos forfeits three victories

Rancho Alamitos, expected to be one of the favorites to win the Garden Grove League title, has forfeited three victories for using an ineligible player.

But the Vaqueros, perhaps not smiling as much as their mascot, are still one of the league favorites.

Rancho will lose on-field victories against Costa Mesa, 26-0; Sunny Hills, 14-0, and Century, 41-13. All are nonleague games.

Despite a 21-17 loss to Los Amigos (3-5, 2-1) in the league opener, Rancho Alamitos (2-6, 2-1) still controls its own destiny while trying to defend its league title. The Vaqueros play Garden Grove (4-4, 2-1) Saturday and close the season against Garden Grove Santiago (6-2, 3-0) next week.
