Rancho Verde is back to full strength as leading receiver Andrew Bouvay’s one-series suspension is over. He got into the game on Rancho Verde’s second drive and, though he didn’t catch a pass, the Mustangs took a 10-7 lead on a 23-yard field goal.

Norco tried a 47-yard field goal with six seconds left in the half, but everyone knows Norco doesn’t develop strong-legged kickers, just barrel-chested linemen and even studlier cows.

I think the back judge needs to take his watch to the repair shop. He has called four delay-of-game penalties, which is really slowing the game down.

The side judge on Rancho Verde’s side of the field is doing his best to speed things up, though. He appeared to reach for his flag on a late hit against a Norco player who was a good yard out of bounds. It turned out to be the best play-action fake I’ve seen all night. I bet he would have received an earful if it was a Rancho Verde player who was hit late.
