I remember not long ago when the Chino football program was the class of dairyland, developing such players as USC defensive lineman Sedrick Ellis and wide receiver Chris McFoy, and playing Mission Viejo in the Southern Section Division II championship game at Angel Stadium.

Now, the Cowboys are a bit of an embarrassment, kind of how Ayala was last year, but at least Coach Tom Inglima didn’t walk out on the Bulldogs while they were finishing 0-10. Tonight, Ayala plays Glendora at Citrus College for a chance to clinch a share of the Sierra League title.

Chino Coach Manny Saiz apparently decided on Thursday that another week on the job was just too much.
It’s tough to stick around when things aren’t going well, just ask Inglima. It’s a lot easier to quit.
