Reviving old friendships at Santa Ana Stadium

I got to Santa Ana Stadium for the Mater Dei-Orange Lutheran Trinity League showdown, and Dan Albano of the Register is here, along with Steve Fryer, the face of Orange County prep sports for that newspaper, and another guy who’s practicing to be a stringer. Dan told me his name 30 seconds ago, but I’ve already forgotten it.

No offense, Other Guy, but I don’t think we’re going to be covering the same games.

Dan always tells the story about how he shadowed me when he was starting out (yes, Dan was a stringer for The Times). He tells the story about getting there early and getting the rosters.

Right now, I’m without a roster.

Orange Lutheran kicker James Rammelsberg just recovered the onside kick at the Mater Dei 43 to open the game. Gotta love those Lancers.
