Saugus runs past Canyon

Ryan Zirbel rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns in 20 carries as visiting Saugus (8-1, 4-0) stayed in contention for the Foothill League title with a 19-14 victory over defending league champion Canyon (4-5, 2-2).

Saugus, ranked No. 16 in the Southland by The Times, must beat No. 9 Hart next week to take the league title while No. 22 Canyon needs a victory over Valencia to keep its postseason hopes alive.
