The last time I was here at Newport Harbor, the hometown Sailors gave up about a hundred points in the first half to Long Beach Poly.

Well, it’s not quite that bad, but we’re headed in the same direction. There’s 4::56 left in the first half with a share of the Sunset League title at stake, and Edison leads Newport, 21-0.

Nick Crissman, pictured, has thrown two touchdown passes and his 24-yard run set up Areseo Lakey’s five-yard score. The first TD pass came as Shawn Higginbotham was falling in the end zone while making the reception, the other came on a 29-yard pass to Lakey. Well, it wasn’t a real pass, it was a shovel pass. Nevertheless, it went the distance, so it might just as well have been a bomb.
