Why does it seem like Kauren Tarver of Serrano has been around longer Regis Philbin?

Probably because she has never stopped producing solid results in four years running cross-country and track, and playing a little high school soccer and tennis on the side. She was the Division II state cross-country champion her freshman and sophomore years, then moved up to Division I last season and finished second. She’s also a three-time qualifier for the Foot Locker national championships. Four-time qualifiers are an elite group.

Tarver produced her latest impressive result Saturday at the Southern Section preliminaries at Mt. San Antonio College, running the fastest time in Division I. Tarver completed the 2.93-mile course in 17 minutes 25 seconds, 28 seconds ahead of her closest pursuer.

She’ll return to Mt. SAC on Saturday to compete in the section finals. It’ll be interesting to see how much time she can knock off from her prelim.
