So far, Chaparral looks better prepared for its Inland Division first-round game against visiting Los Osos. The Pumas moved the ball into Grizzly territory on the game’s opening drive but was stopped on downs.

However, junior defensive tackle Mike Sikorski intercepted a screen pass over the middle from Los Osos quarterback Richard Brehaut and returned it to the Grizzly four-yard line. Two plays later, Chaparral quarterback Tyler Hansen scored on a three-yard bootleg for a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter.

Los Osos again stopped Chaparral on downs at midfield early in the second quarter. The Grizzlies are finally beginning to tackle a little better and their offensive line is winning the battle in the trenches.
Brehaut just fired a 13-yard touchdown pass and we’re tied, 7-7, with 9:14 left in the first half.

I knew this would be a close one. That’s why I drove 80 miles to get here.
