Crist will not play against Newport Harbor tonight

Notre Dame QB Dayne Crist will not play in the Knight’s Pac-5 Division playoff opener against Newport Harbor tonight since he hasn’t received doctor’s clearance to play after the hit he took last week against Crespi.

Notre Dame Coach Kevin Rooney said Crist isn’t experiencing any visible symptoms and it seems to me it was just a precautionary move to keep him on the sideline.

‘The doctors decided it’s not a good idea that he play,’ Rooney said. ‘He’s day-to-day right now, so we’ve just got to see what happens.’

Maybe that’s why Rooney didn’t return my calls this week.
