Edison is ahead of Compton, 14-10, at halftime

Edison’s Areseo Lackey has scored two touchdowns, but a field goal by Compton’s Jonathan Cuellar made it 14-10 at halftime of the Pac-5 Division first-round game at Huntington Beach High.

Cuellar’s 41-yard kick with 59 seconds left barely made it over the crossbar. Lakey’s touchdowns came on a 48-yard pass play from QB Nick Crissman and his own 9-yard run early in the second quarter.

The Chargers could be up by more, but they’ve made some mistakes and are allowing Compton’s special teams to make big returns.
