Nothing like the emotion of a playoff game.

Brett Symonds kicked a 27-yard field goal with 1:08 remaining and Chaparral escaped with a 10-7 victory over visiting Los Osos in an Inland Division first-round game.

That’s when the excitement really began.

A couple Los Osos players were slow to get off the bench to shake hands with Chaparral, causing a Los Osos assistant coach to holler at them to get in line.

Some grown-ups in the stands began yelling at the assistant coach, saying, ‘Don’t get mad now, you should have done that earlier.’

Before you knew it, the coach had charged into the stands and had to be escorted out by the cops.

Folks had reason to be upset on the Los Osos side, but not at the coaches. The referees called 13 holding penalties on the Grizzlies, including two that brought back long touchdown runs.

I suppose the Los Osos supporters were mad at the coaching staff for allowing quarterback Richard Brehaut to be intercepted four times as well.

Good grief!

The word on the street is that Miller won big tonight and will play at Chaparral in the quarterfinals next Friday.

I’m sure the Pumas are hoping for the same officiating crew.
