The football season for Inglewood has ended despite attempts to overturn an Ocean League decision that denied the school a berth in the Southern Section Western Division playoffs.

Inglewood’s league game against rival Morningside was suspended in the third quarter last Friday by the officials with Inglewood leading, 16-6, after an altercation occurred on the field. The game was ruled a forfeit loss for both teams. Inglewood needed a victory to qualify for the playoffs.

Initially, school officials decided not to appeal, then changed their mind.

Earlier this week, the Ocean League voted, 4-2, to deny Inglewood’s appeal.

On Friday, Southern Section spokesman Thom Simmons said Inglewood had run out of appeal options ‘due to timeliness.’
