Huntington Park (6-5) stunned two-time defending Invitational Division champion Eagle Rock, 16-14, in first-round action Thursday. The 16th seed knocked off the top seed. The Eagles’ 22-game winning streak, the longest current streak in City football, was ended.

‘It’s the biggest win I’ve had since I’ve been at Huntington Park,’ Coach Leroy Wilson said. ‘When I was with Narbonne, we ended Sylmar’s 26-game winning streak. And it was one of the things we talked about with our kids this week --that it’s a great situation to come into someone’s house and do what’s not expected of you.’

Wilson also took issue with those who have derided Eagle Rock (10-1) for not moving up to the Championship Division this season.

‘Most of the people who want them to move up don’t want to play them,’ Wilson said. ‘Great coaching is great coaching. And [Coach] Jerry Chou and his staff do a great job of coaching the players they have.’
