Several players on Narbonne’s roster this season were also there last season, when the Gauchos were defeated by Crenshaw, 30-7, in a quarterfinal game of the City playoffs.

However, Narbonne Coach Manuel Douglas said revenge is not the rallying cry for Wednesday’s quarterfinal game at Crenshaw. But the Gauchows will be motivated.

‘They made us look bad last year. They were much more physical than we were,’ Douglas said. ‘Our kids have not forgotten that. They feel they can play better, and they’re eager to redeem themselves.’

Douglas believes Narbonne (10-1) has the size on its offensive and defensive lines this season to compete with Crenshaw. The main question on his mind is how to handle the Cougars’ speed.

‘They are very fast, excellent speed,’ Douglas said. ‘But I think both of us have excellent athletes on both sides of the ball.’
