Call it stunned silence. Mater Dei fans don’t know what to make of Crespi’s domination Friday in this Pac-5 Division quarterfinal at Santa Ana Stadium. The Celts are up 17-0 and it could get worse.

Quarterback Matt Barkley was just intercepted by Spencer Chapman on the Mater Dei 48. Barkley is two for 10 for 23 yards. He’s hurrying his passes, and the Monarchs don’t know what to do on offense.

Meanwhile, Crespi kicker Christian Nastos kicked a 33-yard field goal. He also has a 35-yard conversion kick. Sophomore quarterback Bryan Bennett is calmly and effectively leading Crespi’s offense. And most importantly, the Celts are taking care of football while Mater Dei has three turnovers with six minutes left before halftime.
