Very few teams have been able to stop Nick Tenhaeff of Atascadero this season, but Saugus might have a slightly better chance than the others, considering the junior running back will have to sit on a bus for three-plus hours today to make the 186-mile trip for tonight’s Northern Division quarterfinal playoff game at College of the Canyons.

Tenhaeff has rushed for more than 100 yards in eight of 11 games, including back-to-back games with 200 or more against Clovis and Arroyo Grande. Equally impressive were his 10 touchdowns in three games in the middle of the season. He’s gained 1,569 yards and 18 touchdowns, stats that are on par with some of the state’s best, according to Maxpreps.com.

It will be interesting to see how Tenhaeff and his teammates respond early in the game after traveling along the 101 and I-5 highways for a majority of the afternoon. I’ve got a feeling they’ll be just fine, Tenhaeff in particular. And that could pose problems for the Centurions, just like it has for everyone else.
