Remember when I wrote this blog on David Brown, the kicker for Nordhoff? Well, the senior is at it again. Over the weekend, he booted two more field goals in a 42-41 overtime victory over Compton Centennial in a Northwest Division quarterfinal playoff game and one of those kicks was from 54 yards. That’s right, it’s not a typo, he nailed a 54-yarder.

Brown has converted 15 of 18 attempts this season. According to the Ventura County Star, he’s tied for the most field goals made in a season in Ventura County history, a record he could break in Friday’s semifinal against St. Bernard. Odds are, he’ll own the all-time mark by game’s end.

Consider this, Brown has made at least one field goal in all but one game this season, against Oaks Christian, and attempted two kicks or more in seven of 12 outings thus far. Pretty amazing, if you ask me. And I’m not easily impressed by kickers.
