They’re like thunder and lightening, a pair of explosive running backs, both capable of scoring from anywhere on the field at anytime in a game. Austin Shanks and E.J Woods have developed into one of the most talented backfield tandems in Southern California this season and, as a result, Crespi has emerged as force in the Pac-5 Division playoffs.

Shanks has rushed for 1,168 yards and 10 touchdowns. Woods doesn’t have as many yards, only 614, but he’s found the end zone eight times. Mater Dei failed in its attempt in the quarterfinals, losing 48-26 after the two combined for 300 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Millikan didn’t fair much better in a 26-14 first round setback. Until someone devises a game plan and proves they can stop the duo, or at least make things somewhat difficult, it’s reasonable to expect more of the same. You can count on that.
