Their record is immaculate. Their streak is staggering.

The Mira Costa Mustangs wrapped up the volleyball season at 37-0 and won their fourth consecutive state title after beating San Jose Mitty, 25-17, 25-23, 25-16, Saturday night at San Jose State to win the Division II championship.

Mira Costa -- with its first unbeaten year since 1989 -- extended its winning streak to 41 matches.

And some much-deserved props must be handed out to Lisa Zimmerman, who won her first title as coach; she was a longtime assistant to legend Dae Lea Aldrich, who retired after last season.
