Chris Owusu had been bothered by a troublesome knee injury for a majority of the season but one might not have ever known the senior wideout from Oaks Christian was ailing after watching him play the last three weeks. He’s been as productive as they come, a reliable option over the middle, a disruptive force downfield, a threat to score every time he touches the ball.

San Dimas couldn’t prevent Owusu from finding the end zone on an 11-yard pass play in an opening round victory of the Northwest Division playoffs. Gardena Serra didn’t fair much better in the quarterfinals as he grabbed a 29-yard touchdown catch. And while Oak Park held him scoreless in the semifinals, the Stanford-bound playmaker still ended up averaging more than 20 yards a reception.

Yes, it’s safe to say he’s back at full strength and that doesn’t bode well for Nordhoff in Friday’s championship game at Newbury Park. If the Rangers are going to keep this one close, they better figure out a way to stop, or at least contain Owusu, a task that’s been difficult since he’s finally put the injury behind him.
