Milton Knox, the All-City running back from Lake Balboa Birmingham who has committed to UCLA, has set up a visit with Florida for next weekend if the Patriots are not selected to participate in the state Division I championship bowl game on Dec. 15 at the Home Depot Center.

Knox said he was going to arrange the visit even before UCLA fired Karl Dorrell as its football coach, so it’s a little early to start thinking Knox isn’t going to end up in Bruin blue and gold.

It’s no surprise that schools are making a run at Knox, who has rushed for more than 6,500 yards in his four-year career. But the Bruins are still in good shape to land him as long as they pick a coach who believes in running the ball and can convince the recruits that the program is going to succeed.
