Two of the best defenses in the division have already given up scores in the first quarter of the Southwest final.

El Dorado scored on its first possession. It drove 54 yards as QB Kane Wilson looked good throwing the ball but even better running with it. He scored from 13 yards on the option, but the Golden Hawks missed the PAT.

Trabuco Hills answered on the ensuing possession. Cory Brandt looked good passing the ball, but the big play was Matt Wagner’s 58-yard run. The highlight, however, were the two downfield blocks by Jonathan Chanda. Wagner then scored from one yard, but the PAT was blocked by Anthony Laurenzi, so it’s 6-6.

And it’s a game.
