OK, there’s no rout. Not yet, anyway. Melvin Richardson fumbles on a carry from the four-yard line. Crespi recovers. The Celts are breathing. Poly is no doubt experiencing the kind of anguish Orange Lutheran felt last week when it was turned back twice inside the five-yard line by Poly’s defense.

So that’s how it feels.

Somewhere, Lutheran quarterback Bobby Wheatley is smiling.

Poly leads after one quarter, 6-0. I boldly predict it will not remain 6-0.
