Dorsey is doing OK without Hamilton

When talented forward Jordan Hamilton, pictured right defending Fairfax guard Rod Singleton, transferred from Dorsey to Dominguez over the summer, City basketball observers expected Dorsey, which won the Coliseum League last season and reached the City championship semifinals, to struggle.

But Dorsey has gotten off to a strong start. Since losing their season-opener to Jordan, the Dons have won five straight, including a 100-17 victory over Jefferson on Monday.

‘I’m not surprised,’ Coach Kevin Gibson said. ‘Our main questions are rebounding and defending big post people. But our kids enjoy playing together. Last year, at certain points, our team wanted to play for themselves. But so far this season it’s been no ‘I, me,’ but instead it’s ‘we, us.’ ‘
