In the wake of Karl Dorrell’s firing, it’s no surprise football recruits are bailing out on UCLA these days, but USC lost a pretty good one in Redlands East Valley running back/receiver Chris Polk, according to this story in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Washington Coach Tyrone Willingham must have known Polk was back on the market because he apparently came with a full-court press on Tuesday night and Polk bought his sales pitch.

Polk plans to graduate next week and enroll at Washington next month, meaning he’ll be attending classes even before he signs his letter of intent in February.

Apparently, the plan is for Polk to return to wide receiver, where he had great success as a junior and the competition should be light at that position next season.

One other thing, it didn’t hurt that his quarterback from the previous two seasons, Ronnie Fouch, is a redshirt freshman at Washington.

My advice to recruits? Enjoy your official visits and wait until after your senior season to make up your mind.
