Fairfax may be undefeated (5-0), but there are questions -- at least in the mind of Coach Harvey Kitani -- of how good the Lions really are.

For example, 6-foot-10 center Renardo Sydney, pictured in yellow during a practice, who transferred from Artesia, is still working into shape after recovering from summer knee injury. Returning starters Chris Solomon and Solomon Hill are getting used to having a talent like Sydney around.

‘I’m still getting a sense of the team,’ Kitani said. ‘We still have a long way to go, as far as consistency goes. You have to have good habits to do that.’

The Lions will try to find that consistency when they play next, during the winter break in the Amare Stoudemire Invitational Classic in Florida, starting next Tuesday, and in the Hall of Fame tournament on Dec. 28-29 in Washington, D.C.

‘This gives the kids a chance to see what road trips are like, and how you have to prepare for great teams almost every night,’ Kitani said.
