Was sitting in terrible traffic on my way into the office this afternoon, listening to the Steve Mason Show on the radio and rapper Master P was a guest. Of course, the hip-hop mogul was talking about sports, more specifically, about his son, Percy Miller Jr., a senior point guard at Beverly Hills who committed to USC.

Funny thing is, I remember watching the younger Miller on Nickelodeon’s Romeo!, a program my daughter, Charli, now 13, used to absolutely love. Then it dawned on me, I haven’t seen him play. So, I checked out the schedule, and surprisingly enough, Beverly Hills is playing El Camino Real on Monday in a first round game of the San Fernando Valley tournament. Needless to say, I’ll be there.

Can’t wait to find out if his floor leadership skills measure up to his acting chops. And make no mistake, Miller Jr. will be challenged considering the tournament field includes Southern Section programs such as Crespi, Knight and Santa Barbara. City Section teams like Cleveland and Palisades could pose problems too. It will be interesting to see Lil’ Romeo, I mean Percy Miller Jr., perform again, albeit on a different kind of stage.
