‘I don’t think we showed you much tonight,’ said Palisades Coach James Paleno after his boys’ basketball team hammered St. Bonaventure into submission, 75-44, on Monday night in first-round play in the San Fernando Valley tournament.

Actually, they did. When the Dolphins’ (8-1) full-court pressure defense was in sync, the Seraphs (3-6) rushed and harried offense was out of sync and occasionally out of control. Palisades showed an ability to frustrate average teams, and perhaps the ability to irritate very good ones.

Paleno, as all coaches do this time of year, wants more.

‘We need to be tested a little more. When you’re playing your entire bench the first half it’s great for them but that’s not what we need as far as team development. In spurts we do some good things, but we need to be more consistent.’
