The Artesia Pioneers -- the super-human boys’ basketball squad which lost only three times the past two seasons and nabbed titles and trophies galore -- have tumbled into an abyss of mediocrity.

Gone are the McDonald’s All-Americans -- and arriving is an incomprehensible 2-6 record. How is this possible? Inexperience, through and through. Artesia has only two seniors on its roster, compared to six sophomores.

Oh, and Renardo Sidney and Malik Story are nowhere to be found in Lakewood.

The Pioneers will play at Lynwood (7-1) Wednesday at 7 p.m.
