Weary Lions glad to be coming home

Fairfax, which returns to Southern California on Sunday morning, would have loved to bring home the championship of the Amare Stoudemire Classic tournament in Florida. That was denied by Compton Dominguez, however, which beat Fairfax, 56-52, in the title game Saturday night.

Lions Coach Harvey Kitani, pictured at right, does believe his 7-1 team will bring back something important -- the understanding of how to consistently get ready for big games against good teams.

‘We definitely learned the kind of preparation it takes to play well and against good teams,’ Kitani said.

‘Tonight was not one of our better performances; we made a lot of mental mistakes throughout the game. Maybe a little of that was fatigue. We played three straight games at 9:30 p.m. But our kids have to learn from that.’
