The North/South Challenge climaxed Saturday night with a pretty good boys’ basketball game between El Toro and Los Alamitos.

El Toro, ranked No. 24 in The Times’ preseason rankings, rallied in the third quarter with a strong defensive effort and came from one point down in the fourth quarter to beat the No. 13 Griffins, 52-48. Andre Murillo scored 18 for El Toro (10-1), and Corbin Moore had 14 for Los Alamitos (6-4).

The only other game among the five on Saturday that was close was Huntington Beach’s 53-47 victory over Esperanza.
