Running back Milton Knox of Lake Balboa Birmingham was one of several high school recruits to meet Saturday with new UCLA Coach Rick Neuheisel, and Knox said he came away ‘more impressed’ but still considers himself a ‘soft commit’ to the Bruins

Knox, the two-time City Section player of the year, said he plans to take recruiting visits to Notre Dame and Arizona State. He said he’ll probably make a final announcement on his college choice on Jan. 25.

Complicating matters is that the assistant coach who recruited him, Eric Scott, might not be on the Bruins’ staff much longer. Knox said Neuheisel came across as ‘a player’s coach.’

‘He told us he’s looking for an offensive coordinator that fits everybody,’ he said.

One plus for UCLA is that the Bruins need running backs, and Knox would seem to have the opportunity for early playing time.
