Mr. Football. Has a nice ring to it. I’m imagining Malcolm Jones thinks so after being named the state sophomore of the year by Cal-Hi Sports, becoming the third player from Ventura County to earn the distinction as a 10th grader in the last four years. The others: Cierre Wood (2006) and Jimmy Clausen (2004).

Jones was instrumental in guiding Oaks Christian to a Southern Section Northwest Division title this season, rushing for 2,045 yards and scoring 29 touchdowns. His numbers as a freshman weren’t too bad either. And to think, he still has two more years of high school ball left. If you’re a Lions fan, bet that has a nice ring to it.
