Geez, Mater Dei’s David and Travis Wear commit to North Carolina as juniors, and then sophomore Gary Franklin drops eight three-pointers and 30 points on No. 12 JSerra Wednesday in an 85-70 Trinity League victory for the Monarchs, No. 2 in The Times’ rankings. You can read Damian Calhoun’s account here. Sounds like it was quite a night.

I wonder if Mater Dei has any freshmen they can unleash against No. 6 Santa Margarita on Friday. Is it right for one team to have so much talent? Dang ...
