It’s not often somebody sinks 22 free throws in a game. Heck, it might be a little weird to see an entire girls’ basketball team make 22 free throws in a game.

But that’s exactly what Moorpark‘s Lauren Carter accomplished in the Musketeers’ 62-53 victory over Calabasas on Wednesday. The Cal State Bakersfield signee went 22 for 29 from the line and finished with 31 points and 22 rebounds.

‘I’ve been coaching for 28 years, and I’ve never seen anything like that,’ Coach Dave Murphy said. ‘She’s a wonderful scorer and she proved what she’s capable of doing tonight.’

Carter is averaging a team-best 17.1 ppg and close to 11 rpg for a Moorpark team that has won its last three Marmonte League games. And her incredible performance against the Coyotes not only illustrated why she’s one of the most talented players in the region, but also shows why the Musketeers are looking good for a playoff berth.
