One of the best girls’ basketball teams in the Southland defeated one of the best programs Thursday when No. 21 Foothill defeated Woodbridge, 53-39, in a Sea View League game.

Most impressive was that the Knights won by a larger margin than their first victory over the Warriors, which came on a neutral court. The next time they play, it will be at Foothill on Jan. 24.

Although Christina Marinacci, pictured, is the star of the team, there’s good discussion of some of the other players for Foothill in Carlos Arias’ account of the game.

Although Woodbridge Coach Eric Bangs won his 500th career game earlier this season, it’s shaping up like the league title may come down to Foothill (14-3, 3-0) or Huntington Beach (15-3, 2-0). Not only do the teams play on Jan. 22, but they also end the regular season against each other on Feb. 7 at Huntington Beach.
