Boys’ soccer Coach Ken Erenberg notched his 100th victory at Montclair Prep with the Mounties’ 2-1 win over Village Christian in their Delphic League opener Saturday in Sun Valley.

Senior Austin Mandel put the visiting Mounties ahead in the fourth minute and assisted on Jeremy Stone’s game-winning goal in the 70th minute. Montclair Prep (8-1-2) is ranked eighth in Division VI, having outscored its opposition, 56-14. The Mounties tied Mission Prep twice in two days in early December and suffered their only loss, 2-1, to Oakwood three days later.

Mandel leads the Mounties with 21 goals and 12 assists and senior goalie Spencer Peck, who has played all but one half this season, has 62 saves and 12 goals against.

Montclair Prep has nearly equaled its win total of last year, when the Mounties went 10-10-1 and finished second in league behind Kilpatrick. They host the winless Mustangs in a league game Tuesday in Van Nuys.

Currently ahead of Montclair Prep in Division VI (descending order) are Animo, Dunn, Arrowhead Christian, Desert Hot Springs, Ontario Christian, Buckley and Woodcrest Christian. But where will the Mounties be at season’s end?
