Fairfax, Westchester: Who has the edge?

The first confrontation between Western League boys’ basketball foes Fairfax and Westchester takes place at Fairfair on Friday night.

Both are undefeated in league play. Both played difficult nonleague schedules. Both have relatively young, athletic teams. Both have the ability to make deep runs in the playoffs.

If there is an edge to victory, other than Fairfax being the home team, it may be in the second-half play of each.

Statistically, the Comets have been stronger in the third quarter, averaging 25.3 points to Fairfax’s 18.8. But the Lions have been a better fourth quarter team, averaging 21.4 points to Westchester’s 13.3.
