There were goals galore in Southland girls water polo games on Thursday.

Leading the way was Kara-Leigh Huse, who netted a season-high nine goals for La Salle in an 11-5 nonleague victory over South Pasadena.

Not far behind was Emily Donohoe of St. Lucy’s, who tallied seven goals in the Regents’ 15-13 overtime victory over Sierra League rival Chino Hills. Bryce Winton scored eight goals in a losing effort for the Huskies.

Thursday’s games weren’t all about scoring, however. Lakewood St. Joseph players have goalie Brenna Rossers to thank for a San Gabriel Valley League triumph over Warren. Rossers made 17 saves in the Jesters’ 5-4 victory.

Speaking of victories ... Walnut kept its perfect record intact with a 10-9 Miramonte League victory over Bonita. The Mustangs (17-0 overall, 5-0 in league) built a seemingly insurmountable 10-4 lead only to see the Bearcats close to within a goal. Who says staying undefeated is easy?
