Question: Who’s the best .500 team in girls’ basketball?

Hint: This team has lost to five ranked squads -- Redondo, Narbonne, Bishop Amat, Lynwood and Capistrano Valley.

Answer: The Gahr Gladiators (10-10, 3-1).

The Gladiators are even more dangerous now since welcoming back forward Amber Finley, who’s missed most of the season with an injured knee. Finley has scored 16, 16 and 14 points in her three games since returning. ‘This is a girl who’s extremely fast,’ said Coach Al Dorogusker. ‘But she’s still lumbering.’

And there’s also the best-kept secret in local hoops, Raynal Johnson, whom some basketball gurus may consider as the top point guard in the Southland. ‘She turns me into a very smart coach,’ Dorogusker said.

And any smart fan can see that Gahr is a serious threat to contend for the San Gabriel Valley League crown -- at .500 or not.
