New Community Jewish continues to impress in Harbor League boys’ soccer. The Jaguars blanked Ribet Academy, 7-0, Thursday to improve to 8-0-1 (7-0-1 in league) and, according to MaxPreps.com, are No. 1 in California in goals scored in league games.

New Community Jewish has outscored its opponents 54-7 and the only blemish on its record is a 0-0 tie Monday with New Roads.

Senior Jesse Fishman scored twice against Ribet Academy and has 19 goals, including a state-best 17 in league games. Jonathan Miller had two goals against the Fighting Frogs and Ryan Snyder added one, giving him 10 this season (tied for sixth in the state in league games).

The first true test of how good the Jaguars really are will come Thursday when they host Animo Leadership at Balboa Park in the first of the teams’ two league meetings. Animo (9-2-3) went 30-0-0 on its way to the Southern Section Division VI title last season.
