If you’ve got a fast car, or a small jet, there are two basketball games in the City Section on Wednesday night worth checking out.

On the boys’ side, Washington’s upset loss to Narbonne last week has provided a new twist in the Marine League race. The Generals (16-3, 4-1) find themselves tied with Gardena (13-6, 4-1) for first place. The teams square off at 7 p.m. at Gardena.

On the girls’ side, Taft hosts Chatsworth in West Valley League action at 4 p.m. The Chancellors (15-5, 4-0) are the league leaders while defending City champion Taft (11-5, 2-1) is in third place. Not only do the Toreadors want to tighten up the race, they could also use a signature win over a ranked team such as Chatsworth.

A Taft victory would help negate the league loss the Toreadors absorbed on Jan. 11, when they fell to Granada Hills, 42-39.
