Wednesday’s boys’ basketball game between Gardena and Washington, with first place in the Marine League on the line, is firmly in the hands of Gardena -- so far.

That’s because Washington, down 40-25 late in the first half, can’t keep ahold of the ball. The Generals are not handling the Panthers’ full-court pressure too well. And when they do get the ball across the half court line, Gardena guard Nicholas Jemison is stealing the ball from behind and igniting fast breaks.

Washington has to make some adjustments. Otherwise, the Generals -- who trail 50-38 at the half -- are being exposed.
