I never expected to write about the Noli Indian School boys’ basketball team in San Jacinto, but it looks as if the Braves have a real thief in freshman Freddie Boniface.

Boniface leads the state in steals with an average of 7.5 a game, according to MaxPreps.com. Of course, the team has played only eight games, so those numbers could be a little skewed, but you’d think the other teams would be watching out for him by now.

By the way, Boniface isn’t the only Inland Empire freshman near the top of the state leaders in a statistical category. Chaffey freshman Jordan Daniels is second in the state with 9.6 assists a game.

I wonder if Boniface and Daniels will ever get a chance to guard each other. That could be fun to watch.
