Two really big boys’ basketball games are on tap for tonight/Friday:

Harvard-Westlake (18-6, 9-2) at Loyola (16-7, 9-2), 7 p.m. --
This game is chock-full of Mission League title implications, which is kind of weird since last week it looked as if the Wolverines were going to run away with the championship. However, consecutive losses to Crespi and Chaminade have brought them back down to earth.

‘Thus far, no one has risen to the occasion and given us the opportunity to win,’ said Harvard-Westlake Coach Greg Hilliard, whose team has been fighting the injury bug in recent games.

Erik Swoope, who missed most of the Crespi game and all of the Chaminade game with back spasms is a game-time decision for the Wolverines.

The key for Harvard-Westlake will be to shut down Loyola’s top player, Hollis Thompson. ‘He scored 31 on us last time,’ Hilliard said. ‘If he does that again, it’ll be very hard to come out on top.’

Simi Valley (21-1, 10-0) at Westlake (14-8, 6-4), 7:30 p.m. --
My blogging colleague, Sean Ceglinsky, already gave you the scoop on this one. And, as long as my Ford Focus doesn’t decide to make an unscheduled pit stop along the 101, I’ll be a-bloggin’ in Westlake tonight.
