What in the world is going on with the Harvard-Westlake boys’ basketball team lately? These guys went from the penthouse to the doghouse over the course of the last five days. From living the good life to barely making it by, and I’m still trying to figure out how it happened.

The Wolverines began the week in sole possession of first place in the Mission League, seemingly on cruise control en route to the title. After taking a look at the standings Saturday morning, they find themselves in second place after a nine-point loss to Crespi on Monday, a 10-point upset at the hands of Chaminade on Wednesday and a four-point setback to Loyola on Friday.

With the playoffs right around the corner, Harvard-Westlake should be peaking, not struggling. Perhaps this group can turn things around next week in the final two games of the regular season. The Wolverines travel to St. Francis on Monday and close things out against Alemany on Wednesday.
