Girls’ basketball: Franklin finishes the rout of Hollywood

It never got any better for Hollywood in its Invitational Division first-round game against visiting Franklin on Tuesday night.

Franklin (13-11) seeded 21st, completed the 77-52 victory over the No. 10 seeded Sheiks by never taking ts 26-point halftime lead for granted.

Led by seniors Ashley Berumen and Gloria Juarez, who each scored 18 points, Franklin never let Hollywood (13-6) get closer than 18 points in the second half.

Not that Panthers Coach Wayne Nagata saw the win as a jumping off point for a long playoff run.

‘Last year. we wanted to get past the first round and we did that,’ Nagata said. ‘This year, we want to get past the second round.’

The Panthers will try and do that on Friday at No. 5 seed Palisades.
