Casper is the star for Gahr with 30 points

Casper Ware is a no-bling king -- no gold, no grill, no flash. ‘No earrings, no tattoos and he doesn’t wear anything that makes him stand out,’ said Gahr boys’ basketball Coach Bob Becker.

But, on the court, beware of Ware. ‘That’s right, he makes his statement with the way he plays,’ Becker said.

Ware, who averages 20 points and is Long Beach State bound, made a loud statement Friday night -- with 30 points -- in a 79-69 first-round victory over Tesoro in the Southern Section Division I-AA playoffs.

‘Casper is not very vocal,’ Becker said. ‘He’s a silent leader.’

Ware will lead the Gladiators (20-9) on Tuesday in the second round against No. 4-seeded Compton.
